Our History

More than 25 Years ago, I was a real estate broker and customer of the “Coffee Roaster” (café). Having been brought up in northern California and having traveled to many parts of the world including Italy, Africa, Brazil, Columbia and Spain to name a few, I always enjoyed great coffee and food, with a particular interest of how its prepared.

My first adventure in any country was getting up early to find a good cup of coffee.( A daunting task to say the least). When I first met the owner of the “Coffee Roaster”, (as it was called back then) it was a tiny café with about 8 tables. I remember that the coffee was made with only cream and white sugar. Most people had no idea what real coffee was, much less what it meant to serve it freshly roasted and one cup at a time. A few years later I bought the “Coffee Roaster” and committed to make it even better.

From the beginning, the vision was to be more than just a place to get coffee. We offer only the very best coffees and fresh food on our menu. Our coffee beans are collected from boutique farms from all over the world. We then roast each country separately and mix our secret batches with our very own 1950’s 30 kilo German Coffee Roaster. Our incredible coffee roasting machine is capable of roasting nearly 50,000 pounds of coffee each month for our devoted local customers and our growing online fans across the country. This antique roaster produces a distinctive, complex aroma and consistent roast quality that cannot be compared anywhere!

In our Café, we are famous for absolutely fresh coffee made with lean osmosis water. Each cup is in its own single cone & paper filters and dripped right in your cup. We then start over with the next customer.

Joni’s Café is a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and is an integral part of the community. Many friendships, including several marriages, have developed at Joni’s Cafe. Several books and major motion pictures have been written at our tables. We take pride in being a second home and the pulse of the neighborhood, and we are dedicated to maintaining this feeling.
